The use of a restoration material with low translucency for the production of anterior and lateral crowns occasionally leads to a grayish appearance. This is due to the effect of the abutment color. With STML, shade intensity and translucency are graded from incisal to cervical. A lower translucency is preferred for the cervical area in order to minimize the effect of the abutment color. The color gradations are similar to those of the dentin and enamel samples for the reproduction of tooth enamel and dentin.
